The Distinguished Engineer is responsible for driving technical ownership to successfully develop the next generation of expandable sheath technology within AI&T. This role requires a self-starter with a hands-on approach to project solving.
How you’ll make an impact:
SME Technical expertise in certain technical disciplines (e.g., materials, tissue, catheters)
Responsible for multiple projects and processes across the business unit; Accountable for the implementation of opportunities to optimize/improve manufacturing processes/systems, including using engineering methods (e.g., SIX Sigma and LEAN methods), employing technical design skills to re-design/design on new products and/or processes.
Develop training, coach, and guide lower level employees on highly complex or novel procedures
Design novel experiments, tests, designs, and platforms and utilize engineering resources to drive project completion for complex problems Provide strategic direction and guidance on all Manufacturing projects within business unit including process design and/or improvements
Develop new standards for product, process, and equipment design Evaluate external technologies, intellectual properties, and suppliers for business development opportunities to solve complex problems
Participate in engineering advisory board (e.g., ISO committee, validation board, industry forums)
Provide recommendations, identify and gain buy-in from senior management in support of new projects, initiatives, and/or programs (e.g., identify steering committee)
May be selected as an Independent Reviewer for design review
Proficient in CAD for product and tooling design
Experienced in catheter manufacturing design and process development
Skilled in designing for injection molding
Strong background in process development

What you’ll need (Required):
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Scientific field plus 12 years of related experience, or Master's Degree in Engineering or Scientific field plus 11 years of related experience, or Ph.D. in equivalent in Engineering or Scientific field plus 8 years of related experience

Interacts with senior external representatives on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations
Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control
For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $136,000 to $192,000 (highly experienced).
