Position Summary
At Stryker Springhill we manufacture bone cutting instruments for both Orthopaedic and Neurovascular surgeries, our products allow for precise bone preparation in readiness for these surgeries. Technologies used to produce these instruments include sheet laser cutting, CNC grinding, Electropolishing and laser marking. The site produces up to 11 million units per annum.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of manufacturing engineers responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes that support quality, efficiency, and business growth. You will provide technical leadership, develop engineering capability, and drive strategic manufacturing initiatives that enhance operational performance and support the successful delivery of innovative medical technologies.
What You Will Do
- Lead Manufacturing Engineering teams, including recruitment, resource planning, performance management, mentoring, and employee development.
- Develop engineering capability and subject matter expertise to support strategic manufacturing initiatives and ongoing production requirements.
- Establish and monitor performance targets for product quality, customer service, labor efficiency, yield, and departmental spending; implement corrective actions as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and structured problem-solving activities to improve manufacturing performance, efficiency, cycle time, and space utilization.
- Partner with site leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve business objectives and resolve production and engineering challenges.
- Collaborate with Process Development teams to ensure new products and processes are successfully introduced into manufacturing in compliance, on schedule, and within budget.
- Manage departmental operating budgets and capital expenditure plans, including process technology selection and capital equipment investments.
- Lead process and equipment validation activities and ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- Degree or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related Science discipline (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronic, Production Engineering, or equivalent).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Experience leading engineering teams and managing technical resources within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying Six Sigma methodologies to process improvement and manufacturing problem solving.
- Minimum 3 + years of experience in a manufacturing engineering leadership or management role.Experience implementing manufacturing automation, process technologies, and capital equipment projects.
- Experience managing manufacturing process and equipment validation activities.
- Experience working across manufacturing, research and development, supplier, and multi-site environments.
