Abbott Ireland Nutrition Division Cootehill Cavan
Abbott Nutrition produces a range of infant formulae in all pack sizes under the brand name “Similac”. To complement the range of “Similac” infant formulae, the facility also manufactures a range of follow-on formulae under the brand name of “Gain”. The essential ingredient is liquid skim-milk and this is combined with carbohydrate, vegetable oils, vitamins and minerals. The product is blended, pasteurised, dried and packaged at the site and once packaged, is distributed to Europe, South East Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada.
Established in 1975, Abbott Nutrition in Ireland is the largest powder manufacturing facility for the production of infant formulae within the Abbott Corporation worldwide. Approximately 1,000 dairy farms in Ireland and Northern Ireland supply quality milk to the Cootehill facility which processes 500,000 litres per day. This secure supply together with Ireland’s reputation as a green, clean environment is of significant strategic importance to Abbott Nutrition.

Primary Function / Goals / Objectives
Follow all Environmental, Health and Safety Rules and Regulations in the plant.
Report any current or potential hazards to your manager immediately.
The Label Copy Specialist must wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) at all times for the work they are carrying out. This will protect from biological hazards and general laboratory hazards. Appropriate controls such as fume hood and ventilation must be taken where required. Consult the appropriate SOP when required.
This function has the responsibility for reviewing all SOP’s for any job task he/she may carry out and ensure he/she fully understands and adheres to the SOP.
The Label Copy Specialist is responsible for controlling all aspects of label development, approval and control. She/he must ensure all requirements are in full accordance with Abbott Policies & Procedures.
Manage the label copy function. Ensure resources are managed appropriately and in accordance with Abbott and legislative standards.
She/he will co-ordinate registration packages, FLTS documentation and other information for affiliates in line with new and ongoing developments.
She/he must ensure all label development is carried out within budgetary limits and to provide information for the plan, updates and individual projects as required.
To provide input as relevant during plant development projects relating to Label Copy development and influence where necessary on projects, schedules etc. to ensure timing, implementation and follow up issues are completed on time and within budget.
To advise the plant on issues relating to registration of new and existing products and the issues which may arise from the market being targeted
She/he must establish strong links with the markets and develop these links in line with Abbott Ireland Cootehill’s strategy to become a center of excellence.
This Job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical / New Equipment, Quality Procedures & SOP’s are made.

Provide back-up cover for QA Certification Secretary Role during holidays and other leave.
Major Responsibilities
She/he must co-ordinate all aspects of label development, approval and control.
Ensure she/he is in full compliance with Abbott International requirements and will support compliance in conjunction with Division and Affiliate Regulatory Affairs.
Education & Knowledge Required
Degree in Food Science/Dairy Science/ Packaging Technology or Nutritional Food Science.
Strong understanding of compliance and quality standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills and management skills.
