Overview The Senior / Lead Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Philadelphia area team out of Conshohocken, PA. We are sharing knowledge, learning, growing, and continuing to be an integral part of supporting PM Group’s ongoing expansion in the US. Our office is executing cutting-edge projects for Pharmaceutical, Biologics and Cell & Gene Therapy, manufacturing facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients. Together with our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe.
This is a senior-level career position and we are looking for a Senior / Lead I&C Engineer who enjoys client interaction as well as the technical aspects of the position. They will also be involved with the mentoring and development to less experienced Instrumentation team members. Expect project work to include all levels of design: feasibility studies, conceptual & schematic design, construction documentation, and construction administration . Project sizes will vary and will consist primarily of life science industry projects doing both existing building improvements and new construction. This position will be helping to support efforts throughout the entire PM Group US region.

Responsibilities - Lead Instrumentation and controls efforts on various projects as part of a multidiscipline project team
- Analyze complex engineering problems and offer effective solutions
- Provide support to fee and capital budget proposals as required
- Assemble and manage bid, approval, and construction issue Instrumentation packages in an efficient and lean manner
- Mentor I&C engineering staff at junior and intermediate levels, as required
- Check other Instrumentation engineers work for accuracy and quality; undertake peer reviews
- Extensive and independent contact with clients, vendor’s representatives and project field personnel
- Attend and participate in client and PM Group meetings
- Direct and/or participate in project site visits to monitor, review and sign-off on Instrument installations
- Special projects as needed
Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation / Electronic / Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is strongly preferred; registration in CA, PA or MA is preferred
- 10+ Years of formal experience in heavy I&C engineering design (preferably in the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Cell & Gene Therapy sectors)
- Demonstrated advanced level experience in the complete suite of Instrumentation engineering design services. This includes (but is not limited to) Instrument Index, I/O Lists/ Allocation, Instrument Specs/ Data Sheets, Layouts, Cable Containment, Block Diagrams, System Architecture, Atex/ Hazardous Areas, Clean Room Applications
- Proficient with the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI) & digital project delivery tools is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of all applicable Instrumentation engineering codes, standards and acceptable industry practices
- Commercially aware with the ability to undertake value engineering activities and implement new technologies to provide costs effective solutions for our clients
- Commercially aware on project execution, control of budgets, resourcing and change control
- Multiple office execution experience is advantageous
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents is required
- Professional approach and demeanour with a strong ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection and business
- Ability to play a positive role in multi-discipline teams with a reliable, consistent and mature approach to work
