Job Description
Eurofins Experchem Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Analyst I (Microbiology) to join our laboratory team in Toronto, Canada. In this entry-level position, you will perform microbiological testing and analysis while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, precision, and compliance. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise in a dynamic laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct microbiological testing and analysis using established protocols and standard operating procedures
- Prepare and inoculate samples, including mobile phases preparation, in accordance with laboratory guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality
- Perform quality control procedures and document all results accurately in laboratory records
- Interpret microbiological test results and prepare clear, comprehensive reports
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance standards
- Identify and troubleshoot analytical issues, escalating complex problems to senior staff as needed
- Support senior analysts on assigned projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- B.Sc. degree in Microbiology or related discipline
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience with microbiological testing techniques in a laboratory or contract laboratory setting
- Demonstrated proficiency in microbiological analysis methods and laboratory safety practices
- Strong ability to follow detailed protocols and standard operating procedures with precision
- Competency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
- Excellent organisational and documentation skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with food, natural health products (NHPs), cannabis, or consumer product testing
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles
- Relevant certifications in microbiology or laboratory science
Working Conditions:
This position is based in a laboratory environment; significant time spent standing at a bench, working with chemicals and biologicals, and in a time-sensitive production role. Lifting requirements of up to 30lbs on a regular basis. Extra hours, weekends and evenings will be required.
You will work a varied shift schedule within core hours of 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, with flexibility to support laboratory operations.
