Your Role:
As a Scientist II in the Microbiological Sciences group, you will leverage your scientific expertise to develop, validate, and advance microbiological testing that support product development and manufacturing within Process Solutions R&D. You will support the design and implementation of robust bacterial ingress and retention testing methods and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure scientific rigor, regulatory compliance, and product reliability. Your work will directly enable innovation in sterile filtration, contamination control, and microbial risk assessment—driving excellence in product quality, supply, and scientific leadership.
- Working with technical leads to ensure project requirements are understood and complete deliverables on time
- Provide technical expertise on challenge models to evaluate system integrity and microbial barrier performance & execute on topics with product development (PD) and applications teams
- Author protocols, test execution, and reports that provide documentation and comply with good documentation practices
- Contribute to new equipment and test methods development aligned with regulatory standards (e.g., Annex 1, ASTM F838)
- Contribute to method and equipment development and improvement projects, new technology and equipment evaluation, method validation, and training
- Support microbiological expertise in product/process changes, raw material qualification, and contamination control strategies
- Engage with industry by technical conference attendance and contribute to thought leadership presentations
Physical Attributes:
- Work with biological materials under BSL-2 biosafety practices
- Complete physical lab procedures/operations, including lifting 35-40 lbs
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering discipline
- 3+ years of laboratory experience
OR
- Master’s degree inMicrobiology, Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other Life Science or Engineering discipline
- 1+ years of laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing method development, bacterial retention/ingress testing
- Strong understanding of sterile filtration, contamination control, and regulatory standards (Annex 1, ASTM, PDA TRs, etc.)
- Proficiency in data analysis, risk assessment, and technical documentation
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with cleanroom practices, BSL-2 testing environments, and digital data acquisition systems
- Experience translating complex microbiological data into actionable design and process insights
- Hands-on experience with microbial challenge testing and aseptic system design
Pay Range for this position: $83,500-$138,500.
The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
