Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist with expertise in CRISPR gene editing and iPSC engineering to join our diabetes research team. This lab-based role will focus on advancing stem cell engineering and developing next-generation islet cell therapies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in gene editing, molecular biology, and human iPSC culture and differentiation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform CRISPR-based gene editing and optimize workflows for gRNA screening and delivery.
- Develop and characterize clonal gene-edited iPSC lines using flow cytometry, ddPCR, dPCR, and qPCR.
- Maintain routine iPSC culture, passaging, and media preparation.
- Execute directed differentiation of human iPSCs to pancreatic islets and assess drug substance quality (cell counts, viability, metabolite analysis).
- Conduct on-/off-target analysis via PCR and NGS workflows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support assay transfer from R&D to GMP environments.
- Maintain accurate experimental records, prepare reports, and contribute to SOP development.
Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. in Stem Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with 3–4 years of relevant industry experience; OR M.S. with 1–2 years experience.
- Hands-on experience with human iPSC culture and CRISPR gene editing.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (PCR, ddPCR, dPCR, NGS).
- Familiarity with flow-based sorting and assay development (ELISA, luciferase assays).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in pancreatic islet differentiation and transitioning processes to GMP.
- Familiarity with electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
Additional Information
The position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm with occasional weekends (on a rotational basis to support cell culture). Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
