The scientist is part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team in exploratory immuno-oncology, playing a key role in the evaluation and understanding of new drug concepts. The scientist is responsible for the execution of lab-based experiments to support the validation of targets and preclinical drug discovery projects. In detail, responsibilities include designing, implementing, monitoring and analyzing in vitro experimental work. This position requires hands-on expertise in multiple immunological techniques including ELISA/ MSD/Luminex and experience with sterile cell culture and manipulation. Furthermore, the scientist is responsible for the independent execution of experiments, analysis of results and graphical data representation.
roles and responsibilities.
You will be responsible for the execution of lab-based experiments to support the validation of targets and preclinical drug discovery projects, and contributing to the overall success of the team. Smaller day-to-day tasks or infrequent tasks: lab cleaning, supply inventory keeping, following appropriate trainings, unpacking orders and shipments, upholding safety compliance. This will involve:
- Experimental lab work includes but is not limited to collection and analysis of cells/tissue/blood/plasma/serum/supernatant using flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD/Luminex,(65%)
- Analysis of data and graphical representation, literature searches to confirm data (10%)
- Drafting protocol - Signals reporting (15%)
- Maintenance of cell cultures (5%)
- Meetings with the extended team, colleagues, supervisor, … (5%)
- Efficient managing and planning of multiple experiments
- Performs data analysis and interpretation
- Collaborating with scientists in multiple disciplines
- This position may require occasional weekend, evening, and holiday dosing/animal monitoring.
how to succeed.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate strong hands-on expertise in multiple immunological techniques, excellent organizational skills, and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, highly matrixed, interactive environment. You will also bring:
- Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biology or Genetic Engineering.
- Relevant experience in a laboratory environment.
- Extensive experience in human and murine cell culture work
- Excellent compliance level with Electronic Lab Notebook reporting (ELN) and Environmental Health and Safety regulations (EHS)
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, FACS analysis software, statistical and graphical analysis software
- Experience in the isolation and analysis of cells/tissue/blood/plasma/serum using flow cytometry or immunoassays (ELISA/MSD/Luminex/Western Blotting) is required
- Experience with cell death analysis (Incucyte, …) is a plus
- Experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques to analyze immune cells such as: immune cell isolation, sterile primary immune cell and cell line culture, in vitro stimulation, and cellular assays. FACS experience is required, as well as FlowJo or Cytobank knowledge for analysis, Graphpad for statistical analysis and graphical representation,
- Immunohistochemistry. Cell line culture techniques required. Graphpad skills for statistical analysis and graphical representation.
- Excellent organizational skills, experimental documentation, and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, highly matrixed, interactive environment is essential.
- Strong communication and reporting skills (good knowledge of English is required)
- Basic MS Office programs (powerpoint, word, excel, ….)
- A background in immunology and oncology is a plus.
