Renishaw is a global technology company with core skills in measurement, motion control, healthcare, spectroscopy and manufacturing. We are looking to recruit a Service and Application Engineer to be located at our West Dundee site in Illinois to install, service and maintain our range of analytical Raman spectroscopy equipment in the North American region.
This is an excellent opportunity to use your technical knowledge along with interpersonal skills to deliver service, advice and support which includes installation, maintenance and repair of Renishaw’s spectroscopy products. You will help ensure coverage of our customer base and maintain Renishaw’s reputation for high quality service and response
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Installation and service of Raman spectroscopy instrumentation and accessories in the USA, Canada and Mexico
System fault finding, diagnostics and repairs
Providing e-mail and telephone technical support to our customers, including resolution of technical queries and complaints
Customer training on instrument use and routine maintenance
Scheduling of workload, organization of customer visits and associated travel
Maintain regular and professional communication with customers throughout service events, including schedule, status and cost
Ensure correct presentation, professional approach and working practice is executed, working towards a first fix and always maintaining a customer focus
Travel up to 50%

Qualifications
Education and Experience: Minimum
An established technical background in electronics, optical or mechanical engineering (Or associated disciplines)
Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly and effectively
Demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot, repair, and provide qualification services.
Strong interpersonal skills, a team player with a customer satisfaction focus.
Good time management skills
Professional outlook, smart and presentable
The ability to remain confident in customer facing environments
This position may require the use of, and access to, ITAR controlled data. The applicant must demonstrate eligibility to use and access such ITAR controlled data. The purpose of this requirement is to ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws.
Education and Experience: Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology equivalent, Electrical, Mechanical, or Optical Engineering, or professional equivalent (3-5 years of experience)
It would be an advantage to have knowledge of spectroscopic techniques, microscopy, material science, analytical measurements or systems engineering and to have previous technical support experience. However, product training and, if required, spectroscopy and microscopy techniques training will be provided.

Manual dexterity with the physical ability to install and align optical systems in a laboratory environment

Compensation Range (Annual)
