Job Description
We are seeking a reliable Sample Prep / Laboratory Technician for a six-month fixed term, supporting coal sample analysis at Stockton Mine. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, driving and is committed to safety
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and accurately prepare, analyse, and report data for coal samples.
- Drive to Stockton Mine and collect samples from the CHPP (Coal Handling and Preparation Plant).
- Notify management immediately of any “out of compliance” results.
- Prepare and analyse samples in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Maintain a high daily output of processed samples to meet operational targets.
- Ensure induction status is current for Stockton Mine access.
- Provide a high standard of customer service and ensure all client requirements are met.
- Meet strict reporting deadlines (e.g., trains, CHPP, month-end samples).
- Maintain laboratory equipment in good working order and ensure proper calibration.
Qualifications
- Current full Class 1 driver’s licence (manual transmission).
- Current forklift licence – preferred.
- Proven computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Effective verbal communication and timekeeping skills.
- Ability to manage time and work under pressure in a busy environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous laboratory or sample preparation experience (preferred but not essential).
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
