Cost Engineer - Copenhagem, Denmark - 12 Months ContractOur client, a global pharmaceutical company, are looking for a Cost Engineer to join their team. The company has grown to become a world leader in the development, manufacture, and marketing of innovative pharmaceutical products to alleviate some of the world’s biggest health problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides “on the ground� valuation from a QS perspective during installation / specification acting as the bridge between the technical teams and the Project Services function.
- Specific focus to be given to MEP packages; Piping installation, Sprinklers, Electrical Installation, HVAC etc.
- Provides thorough review of proposed labour, equipment, and material estimates.
- Escalates any disputes to upper management as necessary.
- Review and approval of Contract award and Change Order valuations prepared by the CM and its’ subcontractors.
- Maintains the Variance Log.
- Assist with compiling detailed budget estimates for company generated change orders (Variances) and be conversant with all major cost disciplines including process equipment, trade contract packages, automation, commissioning and all in-directs.
- Provide full assistance to the Project Controls Lead in all aspects of Cost Control Management and its applications with regards to commercial impacts to the project.
- Prepares weekly and monthly inputs to Project Cost Reports as required.
- Provides financial audits of all proposed subcontractor awards (Recommendation for Award) and previously awarded sub-contracts.
- Review contract close out administration and ensures that contractors meet their contractual requirements.
Desirable Experience:
- Strong Project cost experience ideally gained from delivering large scale Biologics/pharmaceutical construction projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Business or equivalent level of industry-based experience.
- Extensive experience in a similar position specifically with a background in Quantity Surveying.
- Specific experience with valuation – MEP packages. Piping installation, Sprinklers, Electrical Installation, HVAC etc.
- Demonstrated skill in identifying, analysing and solving problems.
- Good knowledge of Contract law and disputes resolution process.
- Capable of controlling major equipment and trade contract packages.
- Experience with change management in large scale construction projects (>$100MM)
- Experience with conventional and lean (IPD, Target Value) contracting strategies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- An ability to deal with process change and implement new effective processes
- An ability to work through peers and across organisational boundaries and influence at all levels in the business
