Role Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The individual will be a member of the animal testing division in the Quality Control department. The duties of this position include animal care, facility maintenance, and conducting vaccine safety and potency testing in animals per written guidelines.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct vaccine safety and potency testing in animals in accordance with written methods.
- Provide animal care and husbandry in accordance with written methods and guidelines.
- Accurately record observations and test results.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify abnormal conditions in animals through keen observation and attention to detail.
- Maintain adequate inventories of supplies and equipment.
- Assist with facility care, cleaning, and maintenance.
- Engage in effective communication and collaboration within the team, ensuring seamless coordination to conduct testing efficiently and uphold the maintenance of facilities to the highest standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 to 4 Year Degree (science background preferred) and/or 0-3 years of relevant experience.
- Animal care and handling experience
- General knowledge the following software programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with maintenance, ordering, testing, and other company-based programs.
- General knowledge of USDA, EU, and Animal Welfare Act guidelines.
- Willingness to positively embrace change and flexibility in adjusting to changing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to work well independently and as a part of a team, and to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend/stoop, kneel, push/pull, and handle/grip frequently.
- Must be able to work scheduled 40 hours with the ability to work overtime as needed.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of 5 to 50 lbs.
- Regular reaching, bending, stooping, and twisting.
- Repetitive motion and substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
- Must be able to wear a respirator
- Capabilities of performing physical labor.
